The eighth edition of 'Asian Scientist Magazine' has just been published.  Every year since 2016, the magazine has highlighted scientists involved in outstanding research in science in Asia.  This time there are 17 scientists from India.  Suman and Sanghamitra are from the state in that list.  IIT professor-researcher Suman was awarded the first 'National Teacher' honor in higher education by the President on Teacher's Day last year.  For his research on 'Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Science', he has also received the highest science 'Shantiswaroop Bhatnagar Samman' in the country.  Received 'Infosys Award-2022'.

Sanghamitra joined the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata in 1999 as a Professor in the Department of Machine Intelligence.  Promoted to Director in 2015.  He is still in that position.  Sanghamitra received the Padma Shri in Science and Technology in 2022.  Apart from this, he has many national and foreign awards.  For example, Bhatnagar Prize, Infosys Prize, TWAS Prize.  Currently, Sanghamitra is doing research on various science and technology fields like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Soft and Evolutionary Computation, Data Mining.

 Formerly of Jadavpur University, Suman became a professor at IIT Kharagpur in 2002.  Professor Suman's main subject of Mechanical Engineering Department is 'Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Science'.  He has invented many medical devices in the world of diagnostics, sensing and therapeutics.  At the time of Corona, virologist Arindam Mondal along with him invented the low-cost corona test device 'Covirap'.  Created 'Hemo App' to diagnose anemia.  Suman has also succeeded in researching how women can get tested for vaginal infections at home with low cost while maintaining privacy.

 Suman says, “I am continuously involved in various researches.  The respect I have received over the past few years has given me more motivation.  Thinking about the marginalized people of the country, we have invented and are doing various technologies for accurate health tests.  All of them have been published in various science journals.  It seems that this scientist magazine of Asia has chosen me after various surveys.  This honor will undoubtedly give more motivation to the work.
