One of the largest ethnic groups in Northeast India is the Koch Rajvanshi or Kamtapuri. This community does not live only in West Bengal, Assam or Bihar in India, Koch dynasty is found in the northern districts of neighboring Bangladesh, in four districts of eastern Nepal, in several parts of southern Bhutan.
The lifestyle of the Koch Rajvanshi or Kamtapuri people has been prevalent since ancient times even in this modern era. Differences in their identity with other peoples can be seen from the food habits and the cultural world. Language, industrial history, geographical location have made this group somewhat different from other peoples settled in Northeast India over time.
From ancient times, geographically, their residence was pre-Jyotishpur, Kamtapur, Kamrup, Cooch Behar and now a part of it has been named North Bengal in the evolution of time. Since the 90s of the last century, a large part of this population has started a movement to establish their historical, political, linguistic, economic and geographical claims. Movement is going on to protect tradition and rights. However, we will consistently highlight the different aspects of this population in our cover.
In the first cover we have highlighted the names of the wedding items of this community. People of Koch Rajvanshi or Kamtapuri community use different bridal items. Their main marriage articles are doi-chiraravar, janani bhar, turban, bichan, dhona, lakhol var, mandap, Nandi mukh gobarkari, ghti, oil string, chalan bati, chaul dhani, paddy, durba grass, curry,Topor etc.
Although the marriage strategy of the Bengalis living in North Bengal of West Bengal and their marriage giving strategy is somewhat consistent with the evolution of time. Due to geographical reasons, the names of wedding items vary from place to place.
